Amiro Art & Design is a brand new gallery at 9 Aviles Street, which is celebrating its grand opening on Friday, December 5, 2014, during the First Friday Art Walk from 5 - 9 p.m.

The new gallery builds on the reputation and vision of its adjacent sister gallery, Amiro Art & Found, while focusing on contemporary art and installation, fine craft and artisan jewelry. "Amiro" is a Timucuan word that means "much, many, plenty," and this new gallery space represents that concept with the variety of artwork displayed here.

For its grand opening, Amiro Art & Design is featuring local painter Bill Lyons, raku clay artist Candone Wharton from Daytona Beach, husband and wife (and former St. Augustine residents) Curtis Bowman and Eleanor Hughes, Gabrielle Gould's whimsical finely crafted jewelry of enamel on silver and gold, lamp-worked glass from local artisan Tracey Womack, and the paintings of New Orleans artist Matteo Neivert.

Visitors are invited to come out for the First Friday Art Walk and enjoy the hospitality of all the galleries along Aviles Street — St. Augustine's "Original Art District."

Admission to the grand opening reception is free.

When? Friday, December 5, 2014, from 5 - 9 p.m.

Where? Amiro Art & Design is located at 9 Aviles Street.
