On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Fort Matanzas National Monument will host a free Colonial Textiles demonstration from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Fort's Visitor Center.

The St. Augustine Textile Arts Guild will present this living history event, as their members demonstrate the traditional crafts of spinning, weaving, felting, and knitting cloth and creating garments in the Colonial era in St. Augustine.

Fort Matanzas National Monument preserves the fortified watchtower (completed in 1742) that defended the southern approach to St. Augustine. This fortress was vital to the safety of the fledgling port town, St. Augustine.

Admission: FREE

When: From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Where: The Fort Matanzas Visitor Center and gift shop are located at 8635 A1A, about 15 miles south of St. Augustine.
