(904) 794-0997A Day in Old Florida Festival at Faver-Dykes State Park will feature living history to take visitors back in time during Florida's colonial days. This historic festival will feature an authentic 16th century Trapper Trader Camp, a Timucuan Native American display, an interactive corn grinding experience, historic demonstrations, music, food and more.
Several environmental and cultural booths will be on site for visitors to learn more about Florida's natural habitat. The S. John's Audubon Society, Ripple Effect Eco-Tours, the GTM Research Reserve, the Florida Forest Service and the Native Plant Society will all feature educational and interesting presentations. There will also be fire equipment demonstrations from the Florida Park Service's District 3 prescribed fire team who will demonstrate what they do during a prescribed burn.
For the Kids: Children can participate in the nature's painting wall exhibit and paint a natural habitat, uncover history in the archaeology dig, play Native American games, and more. Also, hands on history games and toys for the kids to enjoy will be provided by the Old Florida Museum.
Food and Drink: There will a variety of food on sale including pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked goods, beverages and kettle corn made by the Boy Scouts of America, Pot O' Gold and the Friends of Washington Oaks State Park.
Nature Hikes: Park staff and volunteers will take visitors on guided nature hikes. The scheduled hike times are 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm.
Kayak Tours: Visitors can go on scenic kayak tours led by Park Rangers. The tours are $15 per person and participants must be 12 years or older. Reservations for these tours are required. The scheduled kayak tour times are at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. Call the park at (904) 794-0997 or make a reservation the day of at the information booth.
