Each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, local leaders hold a silent march in honor of Dr. King. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., at 85 Martin Luther King Drive, the silent march will continue to King Street and the Plaza dé la Constitucion. The 2025 commemoration is the 40th anniversary of St. Augustine's celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Once everyone has reached the Plaza, Pastor E. Chris Washington of Beacon of Light in Panama City, Florida, will address the crowd. Pastor Washington is a graduate of St. Augustine High School. In 1988, Pastor Washington founded People Helping People in St. Augustine. For 25 years, the organization of people from numerous churches and choir members in St. Augustine raised funds through concerts, providing over $50,000 for scholarships and to help persons with disabilities.
