On Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, 2017, the annual Environmental Challenge events will be held at the Willie Galimore Community Center in celebration of Earth Day. 

Friday's events will feature a distinguished panel discussion on a variety of topics, including sea level rise, offshore drilling, fracking, and other issues impacting environmental legislation. A reception, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 21, will precede the panel discussion. Refreshments will be available, courtesy of Rype & Readi Market.

On Saturday, April 22, there will be a march in solidarity with the March for Science to be held in Washington D.C. on the same day. Local marchers will leave from the Willie Galimore Center at 9 a.m. and return around 10 a.m.

Following the march on Saturday, April 22, there will be an Earth Day festival held on the grounds of the Willie Galimore Center. The festival will feature live music, as well as a variety of exhibitors discussing honeybees, bats, and butterflies. Vendors on site will provide food and drinks, activities, face-painting, artwork, and other items for sale. 

Admission: FREE.

When: Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, 2017. Friday events begin at 5 p.m.; Saturday events begin at 9 a.m.
