On Saturday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in St. Augustine, the Social Justice Team of the Universalist Unitarian Fellowship will host a screening of the upcoming film, The Piano Lesson. Wine and cheese are provided at this event.
Directed by Malcolm Washington, this film is an adaptation of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by August Wilson. It follows the Charles household after the Great Depression and focuses on a certain heirloom, the family piano. This piece is significant due to the history in the carvings made by an enslaved ancestor.
Discussion after the film will take place. Executive Director of the Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center, Regina Gayle Phillips, and actress Twila Hudson will be a part of the panel.
