On May 13, 2023, the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum will host the Finger Mullet Film Festival’s second year of screenings, exhibitions, and discussions. Along with students from Flagler College and the St. Augustine Boys and Girls Club, this film festival will also include presentations from internationally acclaimed artists and DIY filmmakers from Florida.
Every year since the conception of Flagler College’s Finger Mullet Film Festival, the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum has put out an open call to filmmakers to submit their art to possibly be included. The theme for 2023 was ‘Local Waters.’ Filmmakers were encouraged to ruminate on the sublime nature of water — its fluvial power to give life and take it away and its use as a cultural symbol. The showings for these submissions will occur on Friday (May 19) and Saturday (May 20) evening.
The Finger Mullet Film Festival was created by Flagler College professors Patrick Moser and Kevin Mahoney alongside Julie Dickover, Director of the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum. The mission of the event is to provide a platform for experimental artists and filmmakers — not only to present their art, but to critically discuss their art with their community.
All of the events at the Finger Mullet Film Festival will take places at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum (48 Sevilla Street).
