Guided Hike: Gourd Island

Start the year with a hike at Gourd Island.

The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department hosts a guided walk through the Gourd Island Conservation Area on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. 

This three to four-mile guided hike offers a chance to explore wetlands and hardwood forests. Led by a knowledgeable guide, participants learn about the region's wildlife, native plant species, and the vital importance of preserving Florida's natural habitat.

This hike is for seasoned hikers and beginners alike, looking for a fantastic way to connect with the outdoors, stay active, and set a positive tone for the year ahead. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear, bring water, and prepare for a memorable and educational morning in the great outdoors.

Admission: This is a free event. Register online to secure a spot. 

Age Requirement: 10 and older.
