Guy Harvey Surf and Water Photography Workshops

The Guy Harvey Oceanfront Resort hosts two special surf and water photography workshops, one on Friday, September 27, and another on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Led by professional photographer and conservationist, Ben Hicks, and surf and underwater photographer, Mike Winkles, the two-day event focuses on capturing the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean.

Ben and Mike are renowned experts in their fields and share tips and tricks on capturing stunning images in the water, ranging from wildlife to waves and surfing. This hands-on learning experience welcomes photographers of all levels, regardless of the camera they use (even a cell phone).

Friday's class teaches students to capture brilliant sunset photos, while Saturday's class explores the dunes and the beach, seeking sunrise and surf shots. 

Each class has a maximum of 15 students, allowing Ben and Adam to work closely with individuals, offering guidance and support to help improve photography skills and ensure everyone has a fun and enriching experience. After the shoot, the class moves inside for a session on basic editing techniques and in-depth work with advanced software.

When: Sunset Class: Friday, September 27th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunrise Class: Saturday, September 28th, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Where: All participants must join the Guy Harvey Oceanfront Resort group at 860 A1A Beach Blvd, St. Augustine Beach, Florida 32080.

Equipment: Each student should bring one or more cameras including any DSLR camera and lenses, a point-and-shoot camera,  a GoPro or a cell phone, and a strap or harness to secure them. Additional gear: a backpack or bag, chargers, some way to get files to your laptop, your laptop, batteries, and a change of clothes if you want to get wet.
