The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department hosts a guided kayak tour for military veterans and first responders on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This trip explores the area near Fort Matanzas.
The Parks and Recreation Department, with the assistance of the VA, developed these inclusive kayak trips exclusively for military veterans and current and former first responders. These adventures, paddling along the county's rivers and through the creeks and marshes, help participants build confidence and connect with others who understand the challenges and rewards that come with serving our communities and our country.
This guided paddle around the centuries-old fort provides information about Matanzas Inlet's flora and fauna, as well as the history of the fort and surrounding area.
Admission: This free program is open to military veterans and current or former first responders. Participants must register online to secure a spot. (See below to learn how to register.)
