Musical Chairs with Dewey Via

Once a month, local legend, Dewey Via, is joined on stage by another musician.

Last Wednesdays (Mostly) | 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Dog Rose Brewery hosts Musical Chairs with Dewey Via, once a month, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event is usually held on the third or fourth week and on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Local music writer, Chris Crosby, describes Dewey Via as "a contagious ball of energy who has made his musical mark by performing country, rock and roll, alternative country, bluegrass, and southern rock." Dewey has been named the best flat-pick guitarist in Northeast Florida, a talent that sometimes takes a back seat to his exuberant delivery during live shows.

Near the end of each month, midweek, Dewey hosts "Musical Chairs" at Dog Rose Brewing. There, Dewey is joined by one other local favorite and they take turns sharing songs leads and harmonies. During Musical Chairs, the audience can see the generous, vocally talented Dewey Via singing folk music, harmonizing to a Harry Chapin cover, or adding his expert guitar leads to his guest musician's original song.

Musical Chairs is a popular and relatively new event. Its fluid schedule has to accommodate the active schedules of two of the area's favorite musicians: Dewey Via and his guest of the month. Keep watching for it. The performance is worth the struggle.
