In honor of the 2015 Commemoration of the 450th anniversary of St. Augustine, the City of Avilés in Spain will present a remarkable gift to the City of St. Augustine on February 26, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Information Center.

 Avilés is the birth city of Pedro Menéndez, who founded St. Augustine in 1565. The gift is a an exquisite scale model of Menéndez's flagship, the San Pelayo, carefully researched and crafted by members of the City of Avilés. 

The model will be displayed as part of the City of St. Augustine's signature 450th Commemoration exhibition, "Tapestry: The Cultural Threads of First America." That exhibit opens on April 4 and runs through October 4, 2015.

Admission: The gift presentation ceremony is free and open to the public.

When? The presentation ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015.

Where? The Visitor Information Center is located at 10 W. Castillo Drive in St. Augustine.
