In conjunction with St. Augustine's First Friday Art Walk on , November 7, 2014, the Amiro Art & Found Gallery will host an opening reception, from 5 - 9 p.m., for a new special exhibit, "Return: Recent Work on Canvas and Metal."
This exhibit features the work of Eleanor Hughes and Curt Bowman, who are known for their innovative use of painting, collage and sculpture to produce works that explore both maritime and botanical subjects.
Hughes and Bowman currently live and work in Richmond, Virginia, but this exhibit brings them back to St. Augustine, their original home. The exhibit features Hughes' continuing visual variations on a lotus pond, an exploration that began for her at St. Johns County's Beluthahatchee Park in 2009, and Bowman's original approach to mixed media with a maritime theme, incorporating boatyard debris into oil paintings on steel.
