The St. Augustine Amphitheatre welcomes world, folk, and soul musicians Rising Appalachia with special guest Arounda Diarra to their Backyard Stage on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Rising Appalachia blends poetry, narrative, and soul to educate, inspire, and entertain audiences worldwide. The band consists of troubadour sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith, as well as Biko Casini on percussion, and David Brown on bass and guitar. In 2015, the group founded the Slow Music Movement in order to maintain their unique musical spirit in a fast-paced world.
Rising Appalachia is committed to keeping their work accessible at the local level as well as reaching out to larger audiences abroad, and maintaining their autonomy as they continue to attract followers who appreciate what one critic has called "the beauty of the simple, the subtle, and the sometimes unseen with [their] soulful music."
