Romanza Festivale Finale: Community Gospel Concert at St. Paul AME Church

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., the St. Paul AME Church hosts the evening portion of the Romanza Festival Finale in the form of a Community Gospel Concert, featuring special guest, Emorja Roberson. This concert is in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the St. Paul AME congregation and will occur directly after their Community Art Show, which is the morning portion of the Romanza Finale. The Romanza Festival Community Gospel Concert will include music from Dr. Roberson and from local gospel singers and the St Augustine Community Chorus, under the direction of Rev. Phillip Brown.

Dr. Roberson earned a B.S. in Music from the University of North Florida, and attained his Ph.D. for Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the Sacred Music Department at the University of Notre Dame. While attending Notre Dame, Roberson hosted the university's first concert in held in honor of Black History Month.

Dr. Roberson is a singer, songwriter, and frequent soloist. He is an Assistant Professor of Music and African-American Studies at Emory University. His work, BE-SPOKEN, focuses on the Back experience using jazz, hip-hop, and gospel to tell the stories.

Admission: $20.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite, or by calling (904) 829-3918 between the hours of 9:00 and 2:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

Before the concert on May 14, the church invites the public to their free Art Show & Sale, which will feature various local artists.

On Thursday, June 1, the church hosts a Community Recognition Banquet at Embassy Suites on St. Augustine Beach. Go here for more information.

On Saturday, June 10, the church hosts a Community Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the St. Paul Park on M.L.K. Avenue.

On Sunday, June 11, the church invites the public to its 150th Anniversary Worship Celebration, beginning at 10:45 a.m. There will be a Community Celebration that afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
