
Romanza Presents ...
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from noon to 1:00 p.m., the Romanza Festivale presents The Echo Piano Duo at the Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Pianists Dr. Mimi Zhang and Dr. David Mach earned their doctorates at the University of Oklahoma and founded their duo while completing their degrees. Recognized for their energetic performances, the duo has won several awards in two-piano competitions. They have settled in St. Augustine, where they founded the St. Augustine Piano Academy. Dr. Zhang teaches at the academy, performs as a violinist and pianist, and works as a researcher. Dr. Mach serves as the music director of the St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
The two perform regularly, including in a performance under the direction of Dr. Irvin Wagner with the Oklahoma Community Orchestra. They have performed recitals in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Texas, and Florida, and will release an album of their work in 2025. They have earned prizes at the MTNA Stecher and Horowitz Two-Piano Competition and the Ohio International Piano Duet and Two-Piano competition. They have also won the Hwaen Chu'qi Prize for their performance of new music by the Incan-Peruvian composer of the same name.
