Romanza Presents ...
On Friday, May 16, noon to 1:00 p.m., the Romanza Festivale presents the Evan Anderson Quartet at Grace United Methodist Church.
Evan Anderson, Tyler Snell, Justin Archinhu, and Ethan Grussgott, students at the University of North Florida, formed a jazz quartet and have delighted audiences at the school and in the surrounding area.
Evan Anderson taught himself to play the piano at 15 and is now a senior at UNF majoring in jazz studies. Anderson won scholarships from the East Florida Jazz Association and the Jacksonville Jazz Society. He plans to move to New York after graduating, where he will continue to study, write, and perform.
Saxophonist Tyler Snell is also a senior in the jazz studies program and has received several awards and scholarships.
Justin Archinihu is a rising jazz bassist who performs with several Jacksonville musicians, including John Lumpkin, Erik Bailey, David Champagne, and Stephan Klein.
On drums, Ethan Grussgott studies at UNF under Danny Gottlieb. While in Jacksonville, he has performed with groups in Florida and Georgia and taught younger drummers in his studio. Grussgott will head to the University of Northern Colorado in September to pursue a master's degree in music.
Together, the four perform jazz standards and new compositions with a creative flair.
