Romanza Presents ...

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., the Romanza Festivale presents a free performance from the San Marco Chamber Music Society at the St. Augustine Waterworks.

Founded in 2008 by Jacksonville Symphony members Eric and Ellen Olson, the San Marco Chamber Music Society has presented three to six free concerts each year. The Olsons invite various musicians to join them, and currently the roster includes clarinetist, Giovanni Bertoni; cellist, Ben Fryxell; violinists, Aurica Duca and Ingang Han; and the founders, oboist, Eric Olson, and violaist, Ellen Olson.

Most of The San Marco Chamber Society performances take place in Northeast Florida, often in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. In March 2025, the group toured Italy, performing the Mozart Clarinet Quintet, and music by Bill Douglas, Puccini, and Szewczyk. In prior years, they have performed in Germany. Their concerts have included music from composers they believe are underrated, selections of Baroque compositions, and music by Mozart. While nearly all of their concerts are free, each year they offer a concert to benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
