Salt Run Challege 2013

Salt Run Challenge 2013 presented by Anastasia Water Sports invites all stand up paddle-boarders, and spirited rowers of canoes, kayaks, rowboats, or any vessel that is human-powered to enter the 2nd Annual Salt Run Challenge of 2013. The competition is at Anastasia State Park and includes a 1-mile race at 11 a.m. and a 2-mile race at 1 p.m. There will also be a .5 mile kids' race at noon.

Adult Registration fees: Advance registration fee of $15 and $20 the day of the event. Children's Registration fees: Advance registration of $5 and $10 the day of the event. Pre-registration is open until October 25, 2013.

There will be a limited number of kayaks and SUPs (stand up paddleboards) available at no charge to registered competitors who request them in advance (with thanks to Anastasia Water Sports). Registration forms will be available at Anastasia Water Sports or you can send an Email to [email protected] and they will send you a form to return.

What makes this paddling challenge so unique? Competitors are encouraged to race in costume in the spirit of the season and there will be a costume contest as well!  Event T-Shirts (another great design from C. Paz) and food (from Island Beach Grill) will be on sale. Also enjoy some live music at the Salt Run Challenge.

All proceeds from this event go to benefit Pink Up the Pace, whose mission is to have a positive impact on the lives of those affected by breast cancer in St. Augustine and the surrounding areas by raising money. The raised money goes to assisting the uninsured and under-insured in the early detection of breast cancer and increase public awareness of the importance of early detection.

Participants and spectators will pay the regular park entrance fee of $8 per vehicle with 2 - 8 occupants, $4 per single-occupant vehicle, or $2 per bicyclist/walker. The event is from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Anastasia State Park is located on Anastasia Island at 850 Anastasia Park Road, St. Augustine.
