The City of St. Augustine and the 450th Commemoration, along with Historic Tours of America, present a free performance by the Spanish Brass quintet on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Lightner Museum, at 7 p.m.

The concert will take place in the historic indoor swimming pool of the former Alcazar Hotel (now the Lightner Museum), an apt reference to the heyday of Henry Flagler's Gilded Era resorts in St. Augustine. Flagler regularly sponsored concerts for his guests and for the community in his lavish hotels.

Spanish Brass is committed to international music education, and, since its creation in 1989, the project has gained a world-wide reputation for its collaborative events, performances, and educational courses. Its members teach at Madrid's Universidad Europea and Berklee School of Music Campus in Valencia.

Having played at such venues as the Juilliard School of Music, the Great American Brass Brand Festival, and the National Gallery in Washington DC, Spanish Brass is coming to St. Augustine for this special performance as part of the City of St. Augustine's 450th Commemoration.

This free concert is presented by Historic Tours of America, and co-sponsored by the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Beaches Fine Arts Series in Jacksonville Beach, and the Raintree restaurant.

Members of Spanish Brass will be meeting with young musicians at St. Augustine High School, Sebastian Middle School, and THE PLAYERS Championship Boys & Girls Club while they are in St. Augustine.

Admission is free. Seating is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

When? Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6:15 p.m.)

Where? The Lightner Museum is located at 75 King St in downtown St. Augustine. Guests should use the Cafe Alcazar entrance at 25 Granada St.

The Lightner Museum will be open and free to the public following the performance.
