St. Augustine Film Society: Of Gods and Men
A film recounting the events surrounding French monks during the Algerian Civil War.
On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, the St. Augustine Film Society hosts a documentary/drama showing, Of Gods and Men (2010).
This French screening written and directed by Xavier Beauvois, has been recognized and awarded for Best Foreign Film. It's based on the true story of French monks, from the monastery of the Notre-Dame de l'Atlas in Tibhirine, who work in an impoverished Algerian community. Set in the mid-1990s Algerian Civil War, these men of God must make the important decision to flee from the fundamentalist terrorists or stay to assist their neighbors and local community.
Admission: $10.00 for the public. St. Augustine Film Society members are free.
