St. Augustine Film Society Presents Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom
(904) 254-9524The St. Augustine Film Society hosts a showing of Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (2019) on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Waterworks.
This Bhutanese drama written and directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji, has been recognized and nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The story follows a young teacher, Ugyen, who sets aside his dreams of becoming a singer and moves to a remote mountain village, Lunana. As he learns about the locals' traditional ways of life and heritage, he has a spiritual transformation and a change of heart. It explores the idea that you can find what you seek in unlikely places.
Admission: Tickets are $8.00 for the public and include entry to The Monk and the Gun screening as well. Students and St. Augustine Film Society members are free.

Where: The St. Augustine Waterworks is at 184 San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
Getting There: While the address is 184 San Marco Avenue, the only driveway on San Marco is Exit Only, so it is not available to access the Waterworks. Access to the Waterworks is through the St. Augustine Main Library parking lot, on the opposite side of the complex. (Use 1960 North Ponce de Leon in your GPS.)
