Visitors can watch the Winter Solstice at Washington Oaks Gardens. This hour long, annual event marks the onset of winter when the sun is at its southernmost point in the sky causing the least amount of daylight.Hear insights from park specialists on the winter solstice and take in a spectacular view of the natural beauty of the winter solstice!Park Services Specialist Joseph Woodbury will share his unique knowledge of the myths and legends that center on the winter solstice and help visitors track the movement of the sun throughout the year.Winter solstice celebrations are traced back through centuries of human history. The tradition began when people feared the sun would not return to the sky and decided they needed to keep watch. Chairs will be provided for visitors who wish to sit down and watch the solstice.Admission: Regular park entrance fees apply: $5 per vehicle up to eight people, $4 for a single occupant.Where?
