Ponce Entrance
The Ponce de Leon Hotel on King Street is now Flagler College. This view is looking north on Granada Street toward the main entrance of what was once one of the world's great hotels. Built by Henry Flagler as his first resort, it opened in 1888 and remains a monument to the splendor of the Gilded Age. Constructed by using the innovative poured concrete technique brought to St. Augustine by Franklin Smith to build his Villa Zorayda across the street, the hotel featured large stained-glass creations by Louis Comfort Tiffany. It became Flagler College in 1968. Public tours are conducted daily.
