AJ Lee & Blue Summit
An award-winning California bluegrass band showcasing the front-woman's liquid vocals.
The California band, AJ Lee & Blue Summit has brought together a stunning blend of bluegrass, swing, Americana, rock, and country, since 2015. Merging vocals, fiddle, guitars, and standup bass, AJL&BS pulls it all off.
Seeing their first full-length album, Like I Used To, which is a compilation of all-AJ Lee compositions, released in 2019, their international touring debut resulted from this effort, and this band was on fire. 2020 was a huge year for recognition; leading the "best-of" awards, AJ Lee and her players, individually and collectively, take the honors. As a nine-time winner of the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s (NCBS) Best Female Vocalist, the 2020 LNCBS Best Bluegrass Band award, the 2020 winner of NCBS Best Mandolin Player, and the 2020 winner of NCBS Best Guitar Player they all enjoyed the accolades. The lead guitarist, Sully Tuttle, was also a winner in the Winfield National Flatpicking Contest, as second place, in 2019.
2021 led off with I'll Come Back, their second full-length project, which initiated a two-year national tour. 2024 sees another studio recording, to be followed by tours of the festival circuit and stages across the country. At the International Bluegrass Music Association festival in North Carolina recently, the band was the official showcase artist, where AJ Lee was awarded the enviable IBMA Vocalist Momentum Award.
AJ herself is not new to the stage; performing since age five, she became a songwriter at age 12, performing across America. As a composer, mandolinist, and vocalist, it's said she'll be the next Allison Krause.
