Al Johnson
Now playing with a new band, The Usual Suspects.
Al Johnson tends to stick to things for a long time, and now he is fronting a new band, The Usual Suspects. After a few decades with the band Americana Jones, he has made a change, forming the new band, with country, roots, and Americana sounds.
After college, Al toured for 16 years with the North Star band, and The Pheromones in the 70s and 80s, releasing eight albums. He then made a change, and took a day job with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's office, to put his law degree to work. His home community is glad that music is only a side gig for him now; in addition to a stellar career with the State Attorney's office in Palm Beach, he has volunteered as a youth court judge, as a Little League coach, and as a member of the local Planning and Zoning Board.
As a songwriter and performer, Al's heart is in the music. While touring with the bands North Star, and The Pheromones in the 70s and 80s, he wrote songs, including, "Redneck Hippie" and "Yuppie Drone." Providing smooth, silvery, and sweet-sounding vocals, harmonica riffs, and electric guitar leads for the bands, Al helps guide the group's energy. Al can be heard playing with his new band, The Usual Suspects, covering traditional Americana, roots, and country music of the 20th century. When asked to pick a favorite of his recorded songs, Al considers several of them, and says, "Yeah, no, they're all my favorites."
