Al Scortino

Al Scortino sings his famous line, “resistance is the only path I see.”

Al Scortino is one of those thoughtful singer-songwriters who are very active in the folk community. Playing some of the big folk festivals in Florida, such as the Florida Folk Festival, the McLean Fest, the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, the Barberville Jamboree, the Lake County Folk Festival, and many others, Al’s songwriting is very familiar to festival-goers, as a solo songwriter and performer.

Al is also popularly known as a founding member of the group the Ashley Gang, which performs on the festival circuit as well, in which he plays with Paul Garfinkel, Kay Garfinkel, and Bob Bronar.  The Ashley gang is known for leading their audiences to a realm where they actually think about things like keeping Florida waters clean, the distress that man has wrought upon the earth, and the antics of romanticized pirates.
