Arlos Smith recording his song "This Ole Guitar" in a music studio in Wood County West Virginia

Arlos Smith

Arlos Smith lived in Nashville for 20 years, writing songs and promoting his music.

Arlos Smith performed with the band Onyz in the 1980s and has written songs recorded by Rascal Flats, Craig Campbell, and John Michael Montgomery. He was named SESAC's "Country Songwriter of the Year" in 2020 for "Home to You" and in 2024 for "Mayberry."

Arlos grew up in Parkersburg, a small city in Wood County, West Virginia, often saying that he's written more than 1,000 country songs and that all of them are about the life and people of Wood County.

During the 20 years that Arlos lived and worked in Nashville, he often visited his hometown, bringing other musicians along to perform and record there. He moved back to Parkersburg in 2004 and hasn't stopped writing and performing.
