The name Aslyn is familiar in St. Augustine, as the front woman for Aslyn and the Naysayers, a well known band with a folk/bluegrass sound and great harmonies.
Aslyn Baringer McTaggert, a singer songwriter from the South, now has a solo album, Blue Plate Special, of original tunes that tell whole stories in a few words, stories of the life around her.
Aslyn’s vocals share the smooth smoky sound of Cline tunes of the 50’s, with her pure, clean sweet vocals which roll over the listener with the feel of being wrapped up in velvet.
McTaggert, currently accompanied live by musician friends, says that her influences include bluegrass and old time music, and of course the blues and soul voices from bygone eras.
