The band, The Breeders, in concert with multi-colored lights as the play

The Breeders

This iconic alt-rock band is celebrating their second album and new tour.

This American alternative-rock band from Dayton, Ohio played their first show together in England and then returned to the States to produce their first album, Last Splash, which included the hit song, "Cannonball." All of that happened more than 30 years ago. More recently, the group re-mastered the album, adding two cuts recorded in 1993, and released it as Last Splash (the 30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition).

The band includes twin sisters Kim Deal on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, and Kelly Deal on lead guitar and vocals. In 1993, they were joined by Josephine Wiggs on bass and vocals, and Jim Macpherson on drums, to form the now iconic group.

The band broke up for a while, performed with different musicians, and then reformed in 2008. In 2018 The Breeders released All Nerve, their fifth album, yet only the second one created with the band’s original lineup.

They've been touring since 2023, opening for Olivia Rodrigo in April 2023 at Madison Square Garden. A Billboard reviewer praised the band's inspired work from the 1990s and expressed his delight that The Breeders were “getting the chance to be arena-rockers." Their 2024 summer tour started with five sold-out shows in Los Angeles, before visiting St. Augustine on September 21, then concludes on September 29 at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California.
