Crawford and Power

Crawford and Power, two singer/songwriters who play new "old-style" country music.

Jake Crawford and Ethan Power met in college and formed a duo, a natural move since both of these talented musicians are committed to old country and influenced by the rock hits of their parent's generation. Their reputation grew as they played gigs within a 50-mile radius from school.

Their sound is old-fashioned country with a bit of bluegrass (Ethan's dad's influence) and a bit of classic rock. (Both moms are fans of Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart.) As a duo, Jake took the lead on vocals and played the guitar, while Ethan played the dobro (more of his dad's influence.)

From Alabama home of red dirt, mash makers, back roads, and hard work — Crawford and Power were country long before they became known for writing new old-fashioned country songs, such as "Take me Back," and "Play a Hank Jr. Song."

This duo has opened for the Marshall Tucker Band, Travis Tritt, Luke Coombs, and Willie Nelson. They continue to write songs that bring a fresh approach to classic country, and still play a few blue-grass-tinged rock covers, such as "Hot Legs."

While they continue to perform as an acoustic duo for smaller gigs, Crawford and Power has added T.K. Winner on drums for larger venues. Jake still handles the lead vocals and plays guitar, and Ethan plays dobro, lap steel guitar, and Weissenborn. (The latter is a brand of lap slide guitar from the first half of the 1900s.)
