Cristina Vane
The vocalist and multi-instrumentalist plays fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo.
Cristina Vane, now from Nashville, sings, writes music, plays many instruments, and speaks multiple languages. Born in Italy, Cristina grew up in Europe, moving to her father's home country, the U.S., to attend college. She had already learned to play several instruments, taken vocal lessons, and performed gigs in London, where she first encountered a slide guitar.
Fast forward beyond a degree in comparative literature and four years working in a guitar shop, Cristina took off on a self-designed U.S. tour and then moved to Nashville. Cristina appeared at the SVN West (the former home of the Fillmore and the Carousel Ballroom), where she opened for Bob Weir, Wynonna Judd, and Cass McCombs.
She has released two studio albums: Nowhere Sounds Lovely in 2021, and Make Myself Me Again in 2022 — under Red Parlor Records. Cristina plays a customized National Reso-phonic guitar and banjo, saying she's a rock kid with bluegrass roots. Her most recent album, and newer songs, show her rock roots but are styled with an Appalachian feel, with slide guitar, banjos, and fiddles.
