Brothers and two-man band, Holt and Cabe standing in a record store

Holt & Cabe

These brothers play bluegrass and write tongue-in-cheek songs.

Two young brothers, now from Southwest Florida, Holt & Cabe compose and perform original Americana and bluegrass music. They started by taking piano lessons for three years when they were much younger and then moved on to guitar (Holt) and mandolin (Cabe).

The brothers attended a bluegrass kids camp in 2017 and fell in love with the genre. Their family (as one does) sold the home and took off on a three-year road trip, during which the boys busked, played at open mics and festivals (including MerleFest,) and learned to play the ukulele, harmonica, fiddle, banjo, and other instruments.

In addition to all of that, Holt and  Cabe write songs that tell a vivid story, often with their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks. For example, “Load it Up” tells the tale of spotting a choice object abandoned on the side of the road, and claims that ‘My second-hand sofa is my new best friend.” And lest one think they are not yet old enough to write about lost love, listen to “Superglue Won’t Fix My Broken Heart.”

Now living in Fort Myers, the boys are frequent guests at folk and bluegrass festivals throughout the South
