Ian Kelly
Professionally sought-after musical madman Ian Kelly is St. Augustine’s troubadour of diversity, packing a powerful punch of funk, rhythm and blues, Latin, pop, blues, and soul.
Ian Kelly is St. Augustine, Florida's man of musical progression. Highly adaptive and endlessly talented, Ian uses fusions of funk and soul intertwined with influences of Latin and jazz guitar to create a sound based in music theory and musical intuition. His on-stage performances almost always involve a loop pedal, a type of live recording device that records then loops pieces of musical material to build upon. Ian also plays several different instruments; it is not uncommon for him to loop a drum beat, pick up his bass, lay down a line, then grab his electric and shred a solo. Ian keeps audiences on their toes and on the edge of seats wondering what instrument he will grab next.
Ian's musical domain extends beyond just solo performances. He is the founding member and manager of the band Hit Parade, and also the bass player for St. Augustine musical ensembles Sex Machine Gun and Oh No. Ian's setlist ranges from Toto to John Mayer, and every genre in between. While Ian certainly has a song for everyone, his keen sense of music allows for his own originality to poke through the cover songs he performs. His musical intuition is due in large part to graduating from the University of North Florida's jazz program in 2009, a prestigious accolade for any musician. Along the way Ian picked up several different instruments, sticking primarily with guitar, electric guitar, and electric bass.
