John Winters and Mark Richey on stage at the Gamble Rogers Festival

John Winters and Mark Richey

Two musicians and travelers formed a duo after moving to St. Augustine independently.

This popular duo was formed when two solo performers and former members of several bands joined forces.

As a duo, John Winters and Mark Richey blend their voices and guitar abilities to create music that pleases every audience.

A Yankee, John Winters is from Boston, opened for James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and Jonathan Edwards. John has participated in the American Songwriting Festival, winning several awards. In St. Augustine, he has performed as a solo act and as a member of the Seiners, Silk & Steel, the Magnolia Possums, and others.

From Louisiana, Mark Richey fronted a band that performed as an opening act for Louisiana’s LaRue. Mark moved to Florida in the late 70s and formed the band Sashay, performing often in St. Augustine. From here, he moved to Colorado and performed with Deanna Webb, playing in ski resorts and opening for Michael Martin Murphy, Pure Prairie League, and Jerry Jeff Walker.

When Mark returned to Florida, he formed the band the Impediments and later began working with John in their duo John Winters and Mark Richey. Since then, they’ve played at the Gamble Rogers Festival, Sing Out Loud, and several local venues.
