Jubal Lee Young
A multitalented, country "outlaw" singer with a soulful voice.
Jubal Lee Young, son of the legendary country singer-songwriter Steve Young and musically talented Terrye Newkirk, has made a name for himself in the Americana realm. It's evident Jubal has taken traits from his late father, such as infusing his unique perspective in every piece of work he touches and taking on this unapologetic, outlaw persona. This young talent is rooted in the '60s sound while meshing the traditional and modern folk, country, blues, and bluegrass techniques.
Listeners can hear the wholesome connection he has with music through five distinct albums — Not Another Beautiful Day (2006), Jubal Lee Young (2007), Last Free Place in America (2009), Take It Home (2011), On a Dark Highway (2014), and Wild Birds Warble (2024). His most recent album was creatively processed in the heart of Nashville, which is heard through the articulate arrangements from various instruments (banjos, fiddles, accordions, and mandolins). Much is explored in Wild Birds Warble including a cover of his father's emotional "Seven Bridges Road," the rugged ramble of "Useful Girl," and the tender, vulnerable song, "Angel with a Broken Heart."
Utilizing storytelling and Jubal's impressive vocals, guitar, and harmonica skills, fans can catch him performing at hoedowns, festivals, and other bashes up and down the East Coast.
