Mason Via

A singer/songwriter/guitar picker who grew up with bluegrass music.

Mason Via grew up in Appalachia where North Carolina meets Virginia. Here, he was raised with old-time bluegrass music. He has said that one of his influences was the Old Crow Medicine Show and that he had sung many of their songs beginning at age 12. Mason grew up performing at fiddlers conventions, playing his guitar, singing, and writing music.

While in his early twenties, Mason participated in the 19th season of American Idol, and after getting cut, was invited to Nashville to audition for the Old Crow Medicine Show (OCMS). He joined that iconic band in April of 2021, playing with them on the Grand Old Opry. He traveled with OCMS for three years, singing, playing the guitar, and writing songs. His songwriting credits include songs on OCMS’s Grammy-nominated album, Jubilee, and on Molly Tuttle’s Grammy-winning album, City of Gold.

In 2024, Mason left the Old Crow Medicine Show to go out as a solo act and released a new single, “Hey Don’t Go.” Mountain Fever Records will soon release Mason's newest album.
