As a true singer/songwriter before entering kindergarten, Mean Mary performed her song, "Mean Mary from Alabam' " on TV at age six. As a musical prodigy, Mean Mary could read music before she could read books and was proficient on three stringed instruments by the age of seven. She began home study at the end of second grade and, by age nine, had dominated a twelfth grade equivalency level test.

Entertaining across the bluegrass, blues, folk, and rock genres, Mary plays the banjo, guitar, and fiddle. Mary has grown her career traveling show tours, as well as in film, radio, and television, and is internationally recognized for her lightning-fast fingers and complex story songs.
