The Mighty Flea Circus
A campy and fun award-winning "Swingabilly" band from Florida.
The Mighty Flea Circus, formerly "Professor Pennygoode’s Mighty Flea Circus," has declared themselves a “Swingabilly” group. Even so, in 2021 they won the “Best New Original Rockabilly Song in the World” for their song, “Wrecking Ball.” As a result of that win, the song was produced by Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats.
The four-member Mighty Flea Circus offers covers, original music, and a high-energy, often campy show, creating a sound much bigger than the sum of their parts. Known by their first names, and circus persona, the band is composed of Stingray, “The Magician,” who sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar; Chrystine, “Fire Breather,” also on lead vocals, the acoustic guitar, and a kazoo; Kenny Z, “The Human Cannonball,” on upright bass, at times holding it across his bended knee; and Richie, “The Juggler,” juggles the sticks and plays drums.
From Florida, the band frequently plays along the Treasure Coast, and travels just as frequently across the country, from Arizona to Vermont, and from Massachusetts to Florida.
