Robin & Linda Williams
The singer/songwriter duo Robin & Linda Williams has become a staple in the folk music community.
After nearly five decades of playing, touring, and loving together, singer/songwriter couple Robin & Linda Williams are folk music fixtures. The Williamses have amassed a prolific discography that features original songs and folk covers alike. Their first release was their 1975 self-named album Robin & Linda Williams. Their most recent album, A Better Day A-Coming was released in 2021.
Southerners to the core, Linda hails from Virginia and Robin from South Carolina. The couple have lived all over the Southeast and the stylings of the region shine through in their music. This is especially true of Appalachia, as Robin & Linda Williams often play classic tunes like "Wildwood Flower" and "Cotton Mill Man."
Over the course of their impressive career, Robin & Linda Williams have played alongside many other great and well known artists. Between 1975 and 1987, they were frequent performers on the infamous variety show A Prairie Home Companion. Because of this, the Williamses developed a lifelong friendship with host Garrison Keillor and even formed the Hopeful Gospel Quartet with Keillor and Kate MacKenzie, vocalist for bluegrass band Stoney Lonesome. Robin & Linda Williams have also played alongside Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmy Lou Harris, and Tom T. Hall.
As for where they've played, the Williamses have graced thousands of stages all over the world. Both Williamses play guitar and banjo as well as sing in harmony. Having made a life of playing music together, Robin & Linda Williams have such synergy that any audience they play for cannot resist the creeping goosebumps and dancing feet.
