Ryan Bingham
This singer, songwriter, and actor gained national fame writing "The Weary Kind."
Ryan Bingham’s life would make a great movie someday. Born in New Mexico, he was a professional bull-rider when still in his teens, and first played music in public after the rodeos were over for the day, and only for his fellow rodeo friends. Ultimately, he played more music and rode fewer bulls, traveling from town to town and venue to venue, before ending up in Los Angeles.
He collaborated with T. Boone Burnett on the soundtrack for Crazy Heart, particularly on the movie’s theme song, “The Weary Kind.” That song won an Academy Award, the Golden Globe, and a Critic’s Choice Award for “Best Original Song” in 2010. He has acted in several films and has been in more than 20 episodes of the television series, Yellowstone.
Music is still a priority for Ryan, and the singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor has released seven albums.
In concert, Ryan often performs with The Texas Gentlemen, a group that has worked on stage and in the studio with artists that include Kris Kristofferson, George Strait, Leon Bridges, and Shakey Graves. The Texas Gentlemen are co-singers and frontmen, Nik Lee on the guitar and Daniel Creamer on keyboards, with guitarist Ryan Ake, bassist Scott Edgar Lee, Jr., and drummer Paul Grass.
