Those Guys
One of the longest running musical ensembles in town, comprised of dynamic musicians.
A rock and roll explosion, St. Augustine's Those Guys is an astonishing fusion of classic blues, modern rock and roll, with a twist of classic rock sprinkled over a lifetime of friendship between the band members, forming one of the heartiest and heaviest sounds around. Lead singer Chris McVey is the spearhead of the ensemble, lighting the fuse to the energetic riot that is Those Guys. The band remains unmatched in their longevity, one of the first groups to be inducted in The St. Augustine Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Their body of work includes five studio recorded albums, and 3 live CDs, one of them a live production recorded on the historic strip of Highway A1A.
Originally formed in 1992, Those Guys was the brainchild of co-songwriter and guitarist Walt Kulwicki. The band originally formed as a duo when Walt convinced lead vocalist Chris McVey to move to Florida after being in New York for several years. When the duo began to gain traction, they decided to transform themselves into a full band sound. Current members also include Steven Mills on bass guitar, Derek Hess or Mike Maple or Frankie Urzetta on drums, rounding out the band's distinct and dynamic sound. The ensemble remains unmatched in execution, with 27 years of musical history together.
