Tre' Burt

This singer/songwriter signed with John Prine's Oh Boy Record label.

Singer and songwriter, Tre’ Burt, grew up in California listening to the Delfonics, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, and the Temptations with his dad. He was drawn to music and as he learned more and began to write, he felt that writing a song was one of the most natural things he could do. A working man who had service jobs in his youth, Tre' found that folk and blues music fit well with his working man experiences and protest topics.

It was fitting that Tre’ signed with John Prine’s Oh Boy label in 2019 — one of only two artists invited to join the label in 15 years. Like John, Tre’ has a unique way of creating imagery in his music and writing deeply personal songs that resonate with others from all walks of life.

After learning that John was gravely ill, Tre’ wrote “Dixie Red,” to honor his songwriting hero. A Dixie Red is a particular kind of peach and Tre’ said, “I used a peach as imagery to represent John’s body of work he left behind for all of us.”

While Tre’ may embody some of Prine’s best qualities, his songs and albums are totally Tre’ — his version of classic soul, and his version of folk, and country. Some songs contain a hint of grunge or rock, some are protest songs, and some are love songs. All are worthy of the Oh Boy label.
