Uncle Mosie
Uncle Mosie delivers sweet harmonies, lively beats, and songs that tell stories.
Uncle Mosie is the nom de guerre (assumed name) of Andrew Cook, a fiddler and vocalist for several bands and ensembles in Florida, including his “namesake” band, Uncle Mosie. This band of six musicians from Gainesville have performed together as Uncle Mosie since 2017, and some of them played music together as early as 2010 under the name Nook and Cranny.
Their genre is folk, country, alt-folk, and original. Whether playing covers or songs they wrote, Uncle Mosie provides foot-stomping and toe-tapping music. In addition to Andrew Cook, the members are Mark Archer on dobro and vocals, Brian Turk on upright bass, Jared Groom on drums, Scott Ashcraft on acoustic guitar and vocals, and Dana Myers on lead vocals.
When they play some of their favorites by John Prine, Tom Waits, or Gillian Welch, or one of their many original songs, Uncle Mosie always delivers the harmonies, the beat, and outstanding musicianship. They are a favorite, not only with the listening public but also with many of their fellow musicians.
