UnderBrush

Specializing in roots fusion, UnderBrush is a St. Augustine band that plays in lounges and taprooms throughout the Ancient City. Their set lists include a variety of traditional bluegrass covers, as well as classics from the country western genre.

However, UnderBrush shines most when they’re testing the boundaries of musical expression. Funky fills and dynamic rhythm sometimes sound more like swing or funk, rather than bluegrass.

UnderBrush Line-up

The UnderBrush trio is led by Angel Chantel, a Tennessee native whose music career started during her college years in Johnson City. Angel contributes lead vocals and rhythmic backbone on her upright bass.

The final two members of UnderBrush are both regulars in the St. Augustine music scene, playing in several local bands. Ivan Skenes is UnderBrush’s guitarist, dispensing melodies by night and culinary delicacies by day. On mandolin is Floridian Srivas “Vas” Barsaleau, whose instrumentation provides UnderBrush that iconic bluegrass twang.
