Veronika Jackson

From St. Petersburg, Florida, Veronika Jackson's family was musically talented and she started singing in school at an early age. As a teenager, she was moved by the acoustic folk movement and began to follow Odetta, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Joan Baez, and more. Still later, she learned about Diamond Teeth Mary, who sang the blues and inspired other performers at the Florida Folk Festival.

A singer and songwriter, Veronika's songs sit firmly in the acoustic folk genre and also share her cultural influences as an African-American woman. She (or others) have labeled her music as Acoustic Folk Blues. That fits. The results are original songs, authentic lyrics, and clear and smooth vocals — accompanied on the guitar by her Piedmont blues picking style.

Veronika has performed at numerous festivals and venues along the Atlantic seaboard and across the Atlantic, as well. Critics and audiences comment on her joy, integrity and that — whether she is performing old spirituals or new compositions — she always leaves the audience wanting more.
