Vivace
Vivace, a group of talented young musicians, bring their lively performance of pop, rock, and folk arrangements to St. Augustine.
What happens when young Suzuki-trained string musicians are encouraged to explore music beyond the traditional classic repertoire? They stretch, grow, and learn to create arrangements specifically for their ensemble — and they share their talents with audiences in the U.S. and Europe.
Vivace, formed each year since 2009, consists of the best students from the senior classes of the Suzuki schools in Connecticut's Westport and Orange Counties. These students auditioned to join this select and unique touring ensemble.
They chose music from various genres; such as folk, pop, and rock; they wrote the arrangements for some of the songs; and they learned choreography for some, as well.
Each year, Vivace travels to various locations in the U.S. or Europe, performing their lively numbers to delighted audiences. The songs in the current program include a song from "Slum dog Millionaire," a hit by Coldplay, another by AC/DC, and Stevie Wonder's iconic "Isn't She Lovely?"
Vivace will present a free concert at the Colonial Oak Music Park at 4:00 p.m. on Valentine's Day.
