For over 40 years, the organization now known simply as EMMA, has presented excellent music and dance performances to residents and visitors in St. Johns County. EMMA performances are usually held at Flagler College's Lewis Auditorium, but other venues are also used. In addition to presenting quality and affordably priced performances, EMMA promotes music and dance education in St. Johns County by awarding scholarships, and sponsoring performing artists who present to the students. This non-profit group of volunteers was founded in 1979 and first named the Emil Maestre Music Association after the famous Spanish cellist of that name, who retired to St. Augustine.
