The St. Augustine Art Association hosts a special exhibit, Aftermath: The Healing Power of Art, on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Matthew. This exhibit is especially relevant in 2017, in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The Art Association will host an opening reception during the First Friday Art Walk on October 6, and the exhibit will run through Sunday, October 29, 2017.

The destructive power of hurricanes may be a fact of life in Florida and the Caribbean, but the personal tragedy that follows the damage cannot be taken for granted. Art is one of the most powerful ways of dealing with loss, as this exhibit clearly expresses.

The St. Augustine Art Association is open from 12 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The gallery is closed on Mondays.

Admission: FREE.

When: Opening reception will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. during the First Friday Art Walk on October 6, 2017. The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, October 29, 2017.

Where: The St. Augustine Art Association is located at 22 Marine St. in downtown St. Augustine, FL 32084.
