In honor of the 235th anniversary of signing of the U.S. Constitution, bells all over town will ring at 4:00 p.m.

On September 17, 2022, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Maria Jefferson Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution join with organizations around the country to celebrate the 235th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.

The public is invited to join the local members of the organization as they gather at the Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constitución. At 4:00 p.m., bells and cannons will be heard across the country — and in St. Augustine — in celebration of the Constitution.

In St. Augustine, Trinity Episcopal Church, Cathedral Basilica, Memorial Presbyterian Church, and the St. Augustine Fire Department will all ring their bells, and the cannons at the Castillo de San Marcos will be fired at the same time.

Afterward, the Daughters of the American Revolution will present a program at the Gazebo.

This event kicks off Constitution Week, which is celebrated from September 17 through September 23, 2022.
